Eight Latin American Artists Attend Athens’ 4th Biennale

Spanish artists Fernando Garcia-Dory (Madrid, 1978), Ester Partegàs (La Garriga, Barcelona, 1972 – based in Richmond, USA) and Nuria Güell (Vidreres, Gerona, 1981) along with Argentineans Juan Carlos Romero (Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, 1931) and collective Grupo Etcetera, Mexican Gabriel Kuri (Mexico City, 1970 – based in Brussels), Brazilian Gabriel Mascaro (Recife, 1981) and Cuban Tania Bruguera (Havana, 1968 – lives in New York), participate in Athens’ 4th Biennial, to take place through December 1.

An event that, entitled "Agora" and curated by AB4 Team, is aimed this year at reflecting on the way biennales work under present social-economic circumstances.

So, taking the empty building of Athens’ ancient Stock Market as main venue, AB4 Team has conceived this biennale not only as an opportunity to exchange and interact, but as the perfect stage for art review. That’s how, "unlike the idealized image of the ancient agora, this new Agora targets the radical reorientation on the thinking that entails judgment, breaking and conflicts", according to the organizers. To do so, different collaborative events, performances, round tables, movie screening, workshops and educational programs are scheduled to be held throughout its two months.
