Ever Fonseca Shows his Mark during Tribute at National Museum of Fine Arts

Evocación Lírica (Literary Evocation) is the title of a retrospective of painter Ever Fonseca’s work, organized by the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA Spanish acronym) to pay tribute to the artist, 2012 National Award of Visual Arts.

 

Nearly twenty artworks that belong to the museum, the artist and other institutions are going to be showcased, starting on October 11, at MNBA’s Cuban Art building.

 

Elsa Vega, specialist of the institution, announced that the display includes works created from 1960 to date and it will be made up of unpublished paintings.

 

This show on Fonseca’s work consolidates him as one of the most authentic Cuban painters and corroborates his creative thesis of having nature developed in all it empirical forms, she said.

 

Furthermore, Vega made emphasis on the contribution of the artist to the national culture because of the authenticity of his work that recreates daily aspects of his social environment through a peculiar appropriation of myths.

 

On the other hand, Fonseca spoke about his endless need to create in order to live and explained that he feels nature as family.

 

He announced that his music group will be performing at the cutting-ribbon ceremony, playing songs he has composed, which are inspired by his paintings.

 

As part of that constant creation process, he confessed to be writing poetry while prepares his autobiography.

 

Fonseca was the first Cuban painter to exhibit at the MNBA, with a show entitled Óleos de Ever Fonseca, in the 1960 decade.
