Buenos Aires Photo Kicks off on October 31

Starting on October 31, Recoleta Cultural Center will be hosting the ninth edition of Buenos Aires Photo, one of the most outstanding photography art shows in Latin America. Buenos Aires Photo gathers over 30 art galleries that have photography as the main element.

Buenos Aires Photo is going to be the platform to introduce the 8th edition of Petrobras Award Bs. As. Photo, and this will be its first time as an invitation-only award. The jury in charge of choosing the 25 participants is made up of Valeria Gonzalez, Luis Gonzalez Palma and Rodrigo Alonso. The prize is going to be announced on Thursday October 31, at 20:00 hours, at Petrobras’ space within the fair and the winner will be given $25,000 in cash. Furthermore, this activity is set to be complemented by a program named Petrobras Foto Libre, so the public is free to participate by taking one picture on Saturday November 2 to Recoleta Cultural Center and it will be showcased within this initiative. This is the first time that children will have their space within the framework of the show. Along with Kinder Joy, we’ll be presenting a photography contest with “Free Air” as the main theme. Children, 6 - 12 years old, can participate in the contest and dream about having their works displayed during BA Photo. Rules and terms can be checked online on www.buenosairesphoto.com

American Express Homage: This will be the first time that the fair includes a space to pay tribute to two of Argentina’s most acclaimed photographers. Curated by Rodrigo Alonso and having Buenos Aires as the main theme, we’ll enjoy a show by Sara Facio and Aldo Sessa and their 50-year expertise on photography.

Paseo de las Artes Parallel Show: As a classic element of the show, Duhau Palace - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires’ Paseo de las Artes will be once again the stage of one of the parallel exhibitions along with artist Andrea Juan. The show will be open 24/7, free access, Alvear Ave 1661.
