Garmendia, Maneros Zabala, Salaberria. Proceso y Metodo, at Guggenheim Bilbao

Guggenheim Bilbao Museum opens Garmendia, Maneros Zabala, Salaberria. Proceso y Metodo (Process & Method), an exhibition that reviews the career of three Basque artists that were born in late 1960s and 1970s and they share a common interest in History as a matter of research and review. The show goes over the professional career of these creators through their most representative works, a feedback opportunity among their artworks; and, on the other hand, it includes three works, specifically created for the museum, which will later join the institution’s collection.

The analysis of History in order to shed light on its contradictions and ambiguities is a common strategy in the artistic practice of Iñaki Garmendia, Erlea Maneros Zabala and Xabier Salaberria.

The museum’s third floor gathers pictures, videos, engravings, drawings, watercolors and installations created since 2001 to date, which reflect the diversity of means and techniques used by these contemporary artists. The group of artworks included in the display comes from different museums, galleries and private collectors, as well as the artists’ collections.

The show, curated by Lucia Aguirre and Alvaro Rodriguez Fominaya, was inaugurated on October 31 and will be opened through February 16, 2014.
