"The marvelous real" at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo

The Marvelous Real, a group  exhibition featuring the works of 27 artists selected from the collection of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Castilla y León (MUSAC), was organized by this museum together with the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), as part of the celebrations to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of Japan-Spain Relations.

The show is inspired by the dialogue with the supranatural and the oniric viewed through the eyes of artists of different countries and backgrounds that use the surreal and the fantastical to address reality and day-to-day situations. The title is inspired by Alejo Carpentier’s concept -dating from 1943- to define the particular perception of reality in Latin America.
