ICO Museum Shows Works of Five Influential Studios in The Architect is Present

The Architect is Present‘ showcases the work of five outstanding international studios that have taken austerity as ethical and aesthetical benchmark. Spread all over the five continents, these young architects carry out their work with precarious economic conditions, thus proving that the lack of resources can stimulate technical inventions and communitarian participation, and the fundamentof a responsible architecture where the service vocation never puts beauty and emotion aside. From Norway and Germany to Burkina Faso, and from Paraguay to Australia including India or Thailand, Diébédo Francis Kéré, TYIN Tegnestue Architects, Anupama Kundoo, Solano BenítezandAnna Heringer have built low-cost houses, rural schools or social centers, an admirable adaptation to collective needs and exemplary constructive materialization, thus inspiring many architects that presently want to reconcile moral commitment with artistic excellence.

Within the framework of the display, five workshopsare being developed in other halls of the museum, headed by each of the five above-mentioned studios and aimed at 75 young architects or advanced architecture students. The result of those workshops is shown at the first floor of the museum.
