Arte x Arte Gallery Showcases Claudio Larrea’s “Lobbies of Buenos Aires”, Guillermo Srodek-Hart’s "A Prophet in his Land"

Arte x Arte Gallery is set to open on Thursday May 8 two photographic displays: Claudio Larrea’s “Lobbies of Buenos Aires (Lobbies de Buenos Aires)” and Guillermo Srodek-Hart’s "A Prophet in his Land (Profeta en su tierra)".

Claudio Larrea, who loves Buenos Aires and its architecture, systematically tours the city on his bike. When he spots buildings and details that catch his eye, he stops and takes a picture. That’s his way to preserve what he loves and register the passing of time, while he keeps his calves and thighs away from the flaccid melancholy. Larrea’s interests are well defined: he looks for art deco and rationalists constructions. In Lobbies series, twelve images refer to the imagination of architects and the work of artisans throughout the 1920 – 1950 period of time.

Meanwhile, Guillermo Srodek-Hart explores rural surrounds of Buenos Aires and takes snapshots of old business premises. Butcher’s shops, bars, bicycle workshops or dry cleaner’s premises are photographed as still life. This is how objects aimed at the consumption get reflected in an immovable and devotional way. For most of these premises, Srodek-Hart’s action represents the last image of a fading world.

Both shows are scheduled to be opened on Thursday May 8, at 1900 hours, and they will be showcased through June 18 at Arte x Arte Gallery, Lavalleja 1062, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
