The edition number 21rst of the Arte por Excelencias magazine was presented at the Casa de 18 cultural center from the Artex Company by Alexis Triana Hernández, executive editor, and Amaury del Valle, journalist for the Excelencias Company in Cuba.

Del Valle stated that Arte por Excelencias publication is not just about a magazine since it has turned a project among friends, among Cubans, and that it is not focused on highlighting the artistic expressions individually, but interwoven  in the interests of promoting culture.

The Somos project composed of artist Alberto Lescay and his sons —Alejandro, a painter, and Alberto, a musician—was presented last Thursday, December 18 and honors the pages of the Arte por Excelencias magazine. According to José Luis Estrada Betancourt, Somos (We are), the name of the project, means “we represent the Cuban culture” and it constitutes the great event of the plastic arts by the end of 2014.

On occasion of the 30th edition of the Havana Jazz Festival which is being celebrated during these days and about which an article was published by Joaquín Borges Triana, he stated that it happens in the case of the Havana New Latin American Film Festival, in this event you can see how the public is interested in attending the diverse proposals that have been provided. “This has to do with that spirit of renewing all the time inherent to our culture, he added”.

The edition number 21 of the Arte por Excelencias magazine, which covers is a work by plastic artist Alberto Sautúa, includes an interview to Russian dancer and choreographer Vladimir Malakhov, a dossier dedicated to outstanding Cuban plastic artist Zaida del Rio, an article about the 50th anniversary of Mafalda caricature by Quino, a talk with Cuba popular singer and son writer Descémer Bueno before he received a 2014 Grammy Award, among other works.

“Today, we have referred to so many themes, , like those Cubans sitting by Jose Marti, our national hero, in New York, in Tampa, who shared anecdotes of the war, amidst the worst skepticism, the most turbulent situation, and also invited the revolutionaries at that time to join the talk. We have tried something similar today, keeping growing from hope and optimism, concluded Alexis Triana”.
