Swab Barcelona returns in October

Swab Barcelona announces its 8th edition to be held at the Pabellón Italiano (Z.6), Fira Barcelona from October 1 to 4 with the following curated programs for galleries:

SOLO SWAB

Direlia Lazo and Carolina Ariza are the curators for Solo Swab once again. The section keeps the format of individual exhibitions of Latin American artists, especially attending those artistic practices with a marked procedural and documentary character.

Poetry exploring narratives of the history and facing up discontinuity and heterogeneity related to the “official” story. Giving continuity to the previous edition, Solo Swab is aimed at being a platform for thought and reflection on the contemporary art creation in dialogue in the Latin American political-social context.

SWAB SEED BCN David Armengol, presents for the first time in Swab, a space for visibility and debate focusing on independent proposals for galleries located in Barcelona, which have become one of the most successful and dynamic sceneries in the cultural landscape of the city for the fact of only depending on themselves with their power and instability.

DRAWING APPLICATIONS Curated by Mónica Álvarez Careaga, it will show 8 individual artistic projects demonstrating the transformation, in the artistic field, related to the applications traditionally attributed to drawing, and they presented by 8 of the best Spanish galleries.

PERFORMING SWAB Directed by the curator Juan Canela, it presents a program related to performances, actions and interventions specifically for the fair. In response to the presence of this format in the contemporary artistic practices and its complicated relationship with the market, in some cases, Performing Swab is hoped to create a performance space at the fair, to be autonomous and an integral part of it.

MYFAF PROGRAM It includes four contemporary art galleries, with less than two years of existing with no participation at any international fair and present artists born after 1975. It is curated by Zaida Trallero and Rosa Lleó.

GENERAL PROGRAM Contemporary art galleries established at national and international level presenting artists born after 1975 and distributed in two types of stand: 25 m2 and 15 m2.

Online registration for contemporary art galleries wanting to participate starts on February 4th.
