Mexican plastic artist to exhibit in Cuba

Havana, Mexican artist Francisco Toledo will be exhibiting in Cuba three series of engravings in occasion of the upcoming international book fair, a representative of the National Library of Cuba Jose Marti announced. At this notable institution, Toledo who is draftstsman, painter, sculptor and ceramist will exhibit from February 14 an exhibition entitled La llama de Kafka, related to the Kafka’s creative imagination.

 

The Morro-Cabaña complex, the main headquarters of the International Book Fair in this capital to be celebrated from February 12 to 22, will host other two series of the Mexican artist titled: Fábulas de Esopo y Homenaje a Posada.

 

Toledo is considered one of the greatest artists of Mexico and his creations reveal a great appreciation for nature, in particular animals that are not conventionally associated with beauty such as monkeys, bats, iguanas, frogs and insects.

 

At the same time, Cuban painter, cartoonist and engraver Zaida de el Río will be exhibiting a set of pieces at the Morro-Cabaña fortress in homage to India, guest country of honour at the 24th edition of the Book fair.

 

During this event, this place will also host a collection of works by young artists in homage to one of the most famous characters of the world literature, Don Quijote de la Mancha.

 

On the other part, the School of Creative Photography in Havana will give to the international fair a photos collection on the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, Nobel Prize for Literature 1982 and a great friend of Cuba.
