Start the 61st edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWM), organized by IFEMA, and considered the finest example of Spanish fashion and its creative diversity, opens the doors of its 61st edition, which will run until Wednesday 11 February at Feria de Madrid.

 

Desigual will again be in charge of opening the calendar this year, as it did last September. So, on Friday 6th at 20.00 h. this known fashion company will kick off the thirty call for the catwalk, with a parade of his collection for Fall-Winter 2015/16 women.

 

For six days the fashion capitals will be the star of this event, which welcomes proposals for Fall-Winter 2015/16 of 41 Spanish artists and, new, three-Miguel Vieira leading Portuguese designers, Anabela Baldaque and Júlio Torcato-, involved in this platform as part of Portugal initiative Guest Country.

 

Along with the 44 creators and brands mentioned parade, fifteen emerging design talent showcase their proposals SAMSUNG EGO Showroom in CIBELESPACIO, with direct retail sales.

 

In this edition, in which the great Spanish catwalk turns 30, is the incorporation of the designers The 2nd Skin Co., Leandro Cano and Esther Noriega.

 

Back in the day SAMSUNG EGO are relevant participation of 9 Spanish young design talents -3 already present in previous editions and 6 new-; the presence of Turkish designer Von Follow Lug, under the Mercedes Benz Fashion Talent Award, and the parade of designer Gómez, opening the parades calendar day 11, the winner of the third edition of Samsung EGO Innovation Project award.

 

To add to this, stresses the record figure sponsoring brands this year, with a total of 22 leading brands in their respective sectors.

 

Also, as in the previous edition, MBFWM keeps opening the gateway to the city. His shows are broadcast on screens situated in multiespacio leisure gastronomic Platea Madrid, in the Plaza de Colón.

 

Similarly, this edition of MBFWM match Momad Metropolis, International Textile, Footwear & Accessories -from 8 to 10 February- great multisectoral Fashion Fair in Spain, where 1,200 signatures textile, footwear and accessories meet. For the third time, both events, organized by IFEMA, will coincide in dates and venue with the aim to continue generating synergies with buyers and domestic and foreign press, and strengthen Madrid as one of the major fashion capitals. Their joint celebration possible to offer the visitor most professional platform dedicated to fashion the Iberian Peninsula.

 

Calendar of parades

 


The calendar shows this edition will start on February 6 with the presentation of Women Collection Desigual, to be followed on Saturday February 7, Duyos collection. This will be the creator to open this time block parades designers belonging to the Association of Fashion Creators of Spain (ACME), which will run until Tuesday 10 February. Then the same Tuesday, parades of non integrated into this association designers and twice Peletería be developed. On Wednesday, 11, the final day will be like the past years, dedicated to young creators of the SAMSUNG EGO platform to present their collections in five double parades.

 

Gateway 30 years

 

The gateway turns 30. Three decades of experience, in which the Madrid catwalk has been demonstrated to be essential platform for the promotion of Spanish fashion industry as a whole, making Madrid one of the major international fashion capitals.

 

The creation in February 1985 of the Pasarela Cibeles, now called Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid and organized by IFEMA, helped to lay the foundations for the creation and design in Spain and at the same time, to promote and publicize the emerging talent in our country. So far, there are about 300 Spanish designers who presented their collections in it since its inception in 1985.

 

Record sponsors

 


As far as sponsors are concerned, this edition of the walkway goes a step further in the next receiving strong support from the private sector, and registers record number of brands that support it. Thus, in total, twenty-two leaders in their respective sectors present in this call signatures. All have in common its association, through various actions, one of the leaders in the field of fashion brands and new trends, such as the fashion show in Madrid.

 

The great platform for the promotion of Spanish fashion has participation as sponsors of twenty leading firms in their respective sectors. Mercedes-Benz, L'Oréal Paris, Inditex are the main sponsors and Samsung, Solan de Cabras, Movistar and G'Vine, sponsors of the event.
