Rhona Hoffman Gallery at ADAA - March 4-8

Sol Lewitt, II, 1969, Ink on paper, 12 x 8 inches, paperFor the 2015 Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) Art Show, Rhona Hoffman Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition focused solely on works on paper from 1965 to the present. Rhona Hoffman Gallery has been exhibiting and collecting works on paper since 1976 when the gallery first opened, and the gallery’s interest in drawings has remained steadfast. For many of the artists Rhona Hoffman Gallery shows today, drawing is a fundamental medium at the core of several diverse practices.

Booth D13 will showcase the versatility of drawing, the closest and most direct connection to the artist's hand. Works by historical artists Vito Acconci, Sol LeWitt, and Fred Sandback demonstrate drawing's potential to work out concepts or structures to be realized on greater scale in other media, while Hamish Fulton's pieces preserve performed journeys. Nancy Spero's collaged drawings evoke the powerful gesture of her hand, whereas works by Julia Fish, Spencer Finch, and Richard Tuttle employ pencil and watercolor to emphasize the medium's intimate, poetic potential. Derrick Adams, Natalie Frank, Susan Hefuna, David Schutter, and other artists featured in Rhona Hoffman Gallery's booth reveal drawing's position as a sincere complement to their sculpture and painting practices.
