Pulse New York Opening Day Highlights

PULSE New York Private Preview Brunch, image courtesy of Javier ViramontesYesterday PULSE New York opened its 10th anniversary edition with strong attendance and a buzz of excitement from both exhibitors and guests. VIP guests braved the snow to for a first look at the artwork and to attend the signature Private Preview Brunch at Chelsea’s conveniently-located Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.

Now established as a can’t-miss event on New York’s cultural calendar, PULSE New York drew a range of visitors on its opening day, including curators from major corporate collections and museums, private collectors and a vibrant, capacity crowd of 1,500 young professionals at its Young Collectors Cocktails party last night presented by Perrier with special thanks to Chargaux who performed an acoustic set. “The art world in New York came to the fair,” remarked John Ferrère of Paris’ Galerie L’Inlassable who is exhibiting at PULSE for the first time.

“The amount of people coming to the fair regardless of the snow was wild, and the interest of the people came through … they were serious,” said Morton Poulsen of Copenhagen’s Gallery Poulsen, who reported the sale of a painting by Jean-Pierre Roy to Leonardo DiCaprio. “We found our fair.”

Don't miss what's on this weekend at PULSE including PROJECTS, PLAY and PERSPECTIVES in addition to over 50 international exhibitors, and see what everyone is talking about.
