Transparencias Personal Art Exhibit

By: Lisday Martínez

Galiano art gallery in Centro Habana municipality will be hosting up to late May, the personal art exhibition Transparencias (Transparencies), by artist Donis Llago (Havana, 1985), graduated from the San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts, in 2008.

A beautiful view from the sea to the city has become the leading thread of Donis' latest production, with the particularity that Havana looks renewed and the inside of the big cities pink. This is an exhibit that speaks of an illusion, a longing or a desire of seeing this capital city with an advanced architectural order. But the idea may go far beyond aspiration to development, in search of a social lucidity, a synonym of purity, thought clarity, new ideas, willingness to stop doing, say, or the apparent simplicity of dreaming without levitating.

As regards to the exhibition here are some of the words on the catalog: «Transparencias bases its affection on the non-peaceful contemplation of the perishable and outer form of this city refused to modernity, diminished, but classical at the same time; it establishes the cult to the city, abolishing its usual form, exploiting the wit to evoke the city as a whole, through a significant displacement of its representation, now denied to the conceited splendor of colors, transparency, translucent, gray.»
