Vocalists from Cuba, Peru, Mexico and Panama are going to participate in the 27th edition of Boleros de Oro Festival, to take place in this city on June 17-21, under the slogan “Boleros 500”.

The main organizers of the Festival, the chairmanship of the Provincial Committee of Cuba’s Writers and Artists League (UNEAC is the Spanish acronym) and the Municipal Culture Division shared some details on the event.

On the Cuban side, apart from the always powerful representation of the city, “Boleros 500” is going to be attended by Anais Abreu, Waldo Mendoza, Augusto Enrique and Ernesto Roel.

Peru will be represented by vocalist Rosa Delia Guzman; Rolando Reina is going to stand for Panama and Maria Elena Martinez for Mexico.

The main venues of the event are Marti Theater and Dolores Concert Hall, although other activities are going to be carried out in the communities of the territory and, according to the tradition, in El Cobre and El Caney, to the west and east of Santiago de Cuba, respectively.

The welcome activity for the bolero singers is going to take place in several blocks of the city on June 17, at 20:30 hours, when the artists are feted by the people, they sing and share with their neighbors.

On June 18, at 17:30 hours, Dolores Concert Hall will host the opening of the Festival, with a high-quality cast: Anais Abreu, Marilys Gonzalez, Peruvian Rosa Delia, Esperancita Ibis, Joel Leyva, Alexander Martinez, Miguel Angel Justiz and Luis Carlos.

On that very day, at 20:30 hours, Waldo Mendoza will give an opening concert at Marti Theater, along with Gladys Puente, Panamanian Rolando Reina, Grisel Gomez and Ernesto Roel.

On Friday June 19, at 20:30 hours, Dolores Concert Hall is going to host a performance by Mexican Maria Elena Martinez, accompanied by the Junior Symphonic Orchestra, directed by maestro Daniel Guzman Loyzaga.

On Saturday 20, also at the “Marti”, prestigious Augusto Enrique will give a concert at 20:30, and Sunday 21, 20:30 hours, will be the moment of Anais Abreu, with the performance of Joel Leyva, Zulema Iglesias and Augusto Enrique.

Dolores Concert Hall is slated to host, on Sunday 21 at 17:00 hours, a special moment because the Festival will be paying tribute to the Committees to Defend the Revolution (an organization made up of neighbors in neighborhoods), which have provided decisive support to the popularity of the event.

The list of Santiago-born vocalists to attend Boleros 500 Festival includes: Maria Julia Carcaces, Frank Gonzalez, Altica Sanchez, duo Melodias Cubanas, and guitarist, maestro Gabino Jardines.

So as to complement the performances taking place at squares, neighborhoods and theaters of the city, since June 18 at 22:00 hours the popular La Jutia Conga patio, at the provincial seat of UNEAC, will be hosting “bolero jam-sessions”.

Nain Velazquez will be in charge of artistic direction of shows at Marti Theater and Eliades Quesada will do the same at Dolores Concert Hall, with the general coordination of the Festival by Rodulfo Francisco Vaillant Orozco.
