Havana Biennial Inspires Performance of Spanish Ballet of Cuba

The Spanish Ballet of Cuba (BEC) today will present a performance dedicated to the XII Biennial of Havana, in line with the idea of involving the people in the artistic creation.

From the beginning of the most important event of visual arts in the country, the company will invite the audience present at Teatro Mella to join the dance.

The show entitled "Con puro acento español" will have a first act devoted to the stylized dance, which consists of free composition of choreography made with musical sensitivity and profound knowledge of folklore, bolero and flamenco.

The pieces included in this first part are the Spanish dance of the third act of "Swan Lake", "The Marriage of Luis Alonso" and "Catalanas".

Meanwhile, the second act will display the flamenco feel from the root of this art form, respecting its origins, its very essence and its evolution over time from the pieces "Pasión (palo martinete)", "Arte y tronío (caracoles)" and "Solea por bulerías".

Shortly before the show, children of the Artistic Teaching Unit and Vocational Workshops of the company headed by Eduardo Veitia will perform the show of end of year.
