Old cars exhibit presented in Cienfuegos

Cienfuegos .- The exhibit El Patrimonio cienfueguero sobre Ruedas, including 25 old cars and dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Declaration of the City Urban Historic Center as World Cultural Heritage, was presented in Cienfuegos.

The exhibition, organized by the local Office of Monuments and Historic Sites, was mostly integrated by Ford, Chevrolet and Plymouth cars with engines dated prior 1959.

The Ford car, with an original 1929 engine, which was used for the Cuban film Lucia, was also exhibited as part of this peculiar sample.  Orlando Medina, owner of the vehicle, assured to AIN news service, that this car has belonged to his family for several generations and has a high spiritual and symbolic value for all of them.

During the exhibit that took place at the Parque Martí in this city, the public voted for their favorite car and the winners were three Chevrolet cars from 1955, 1956 and 1959, respectively.

Maribel Sardiñas, specialist of the Provincial Center of Patrimony called the drivers and owners of old cars to participate in the event next year, which will count with professional judges and will try to extend the tour.

UNESCO declared Cienfuegos City Urban Historic Center as World Cultural Heritage on July 15 of 2005.
