Los Van Van album, dedicated to Juan Formell, nominated to the Latin Grammy Awards

The iconic band Los Van Van, formerly directed by prestigious musician Juan Formell, recently learnt it had obtained a nomination to the Latin Grammy Awards, within the Salsa Tropical category.

This group has already begun a tour around the United Sattes, during which they will perform the best of its repertoire in stages of Washington DC, Los Ángeles, San Francisco, Denver and Miami, among other cities, as reported by the Suena Cubano.

La Fantasía is the album consisting of fourteen tracks for which this orchestra, founded in 1969 by bassist Juan Formell—who died on May Day last year—was granted the nomination.

The album was recorded with EGREM record label, its mixing and masterizing made in US with high-tech equipment.

This is the fifth tour of Los Van Van to the US; the first one was after Juan Formell's death and the recovery of diplomatic relations between both nations.

“I regret my father cannot see this change he always dreamed of”, said Samuel Formell.

“We will make a performance covering the 45 years of the orchestra’s history, he added.

As regards to the musician, his highest challenge was having made this album without his father. “It was the biggest concern of Los Van Van's fans, but we made it, so I am very happy for this. Another aspect was to choose the themes for the tours”, he finished.
