The sculpture exhibition Travesías de XICO por América Latina will open this Thursday, November 12, at 5:00 pm, at Plaza de San Francisco. The exhibition, which brings together several Latin American artists, is organized by the Office of the Historian of the City, its Department of Cultural Heritage and Cristina Pineda.

The exhibition is a special gift for the 496th years of the city. It includes 16 works of 1.80 meters, intervened by Eduardo Roca (Choco), Carlos Guzman, Angel Ramirez, Darlyn Delgado, Victor Mora, Lyzbeth Labañino, Mariana Garcia Botello, Sandra de Huelbes, Karen Rivero and Francisco Gordillo. There are also creators like Hector Lopez, Rafael Pantoja (Frank Mysterio), Cisco Merel, Andres Orjuela, Rolando de Sedas (Rolo), Leticia Gutierrez Rojas, ISHA JUDD (Educando por la Paz Foundation), Cristina Pineda, Luis Enrique Gomez and Pablo Alvarez Carreto.

XICO is inspired by the dog Xoloitzcuintle from the pre-Hispanic mythology, which helped its master to overcome obstacles. This is a character that shows the roots of Latin American culture and becomes a symbol of identity for present and future generations.

During the opening ceremony, La Colmenita Children Theater Company will present a play based on one of the legends surrounding the Xico, with a changüí music created specially for the occasion.
