Belgian artist to open varied exhibit in Cuba

Havana.- Belgian artist Francis Alys arts exhibit at the Fine Arts National Museum next April 8  includes videos, drawings, sculptures, paintings and collages, as explained here organizers.

 

According to Niurka Fanego, technical coordinator of the exhibit entitled Relato de una negociación, it includes more than 260 pieces Alys made between 1992 and 2015.  

 

In a press meeting Fanego commented the artist is considered one of the most important contemporary creators of the world, so the importance of this exhibit which will be opened at the Museum’s Universal Building until September.

 

Poetic, erotic, aesthetical and political elements become alive in Alys’ art while favoring reflection in the spectators through the different readings of his visual proposals.  

 

Relato de una negociación exhbiti was previously curated for the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo, in Mexico and the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano from Buenos Aires and after Cuba, it will move to the Art Gallery of Ontario, in Canada.

 

Born in 1959, Alys has taken his art to Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States with individual or collective samples.  He participated at the 1996 Havana Biennial.
