Gallery Antoni Pinyol. Victor Mateo

Victor Mateo (Tangiers, 1945), renowned Spanish painter, presents his painting in the Gallery Antoni Pinyol from 29 April to 21 May. Victor Mateo was artistically trained in Canada under the influence of Action Painting, Abstract Expressionism, and has always considered painting as the form of expression most authentic and instinctive.

The inauguration, on Friday April 29 at 20h, will feature the participation of the renowned art critic Joan Gil and Victor Mateo himself.

In his works can be seen gestural strokes with modulated and suggestive colors and that fast movement of the brush is appreciated. This allows him to set up well-structured pieces where the viewer can enjoy the spontaneity of an artist who always works in flat. Faithful to the basic principles of unrepresentative language, his painting is immersed in the essence itself. Leaving aside all the superfluous to keep the drive gesture, with the stroke of pigment on the support, with traffic of the brush footprint, with subtle movements of the hand, with the length of the track that, according to the time, will be more or less matteric, with more or less texture.
