Susi Diaz: On a Low Burn in Havana

Although there are plenty of common elements among fashion, innovation, creativeness and cuisine, you don’t usually see a couturier going beyond the borders of cutting and sewing in order to give a lesson surrounded by stoves, exquisitely decorated dishes and experiments that turn the kitchen into a sort of unusual runway.

Of course, everybody can make incursions into whatever they want, especially in terms of cuisine, the land of many and kingdom of just a few. The goal is to find success in such a competitive market, the success that was totally conquered by Susi Diaz, since she won one Michelin Star, Two Repsol Suns and was a member of the jury for Top Chef.

The famous and autodidact cook is going to participate in the 6th Excelencias Gourmet International Gastronomic Seminar, to take place at Hotel Nacional de Cuba on June 15-17, a mouthwatering opportunity.

This chef is specialized in Mediterranean cuisine, with a personal touch that speaks high of her good taste and know how, based on the surrounding products, little sauce, abundant vegetables, fish and dried fruits, and some meat, since Susi Diaz says she cooks the tastes of her childhood taken into excellence.

Her career as a couturier came to an end when, along with her husband Jose Maria Garcia and his experience in the hotel and catering business, she opened La Finca restaurant in 1983, at her home Elche.

The Michelin star that boosted her career was awarded in 2006 due to her exigency, dedication and passion for cuisine. La Finca presently stands out as a benchmark in Spain and, therefore, in the whole world.

With an active presence on the media, Susi Diaz has spent a decade collaborating with such shows as “A vivir que son dos días", by Cadena Ser, "Proteína marina", "Si las quieres las comes", by Canal Cocina, Antena 3’s "Top Chef".

Within the framework of the 6th Excelencias Gourmet International Gastronomic Seminar, Susi Diaz is going to present her Showcooking: “Decoration, another Ingredient in the Dish”, an undoubtedly suggestive proposal among the group of attractive activities scheduled for the three-day event to be held in Havana.
