Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum. Fall Season Schedule

We’re proud and thrilled to present our fall season calendar full of  headline exhibitions and lectures. This season we’ll be debuting our first couture exhibition featuring the works of designer Narciso Rodriguez, in his first solo museum show, Narciso Rodriguez: An Exercise in Minimalism. In November, world-renowned performance artist Laurie Anderson will speak as part of the Steven & Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series. For our annual Art Basel Miami Beach event, Breakfast in the Park, we’ve invited sculptor and MacArthur Award winner Judy Pfaff  to speak to our community.

Yuni Kim Lang: Comfort Hair

August 24 – December 4, 2016
Inspired by her Korean roots and Chinese upbringing, Yuni Kim Lang manipulates textiles to create dynamic sculptures that refer to traditional Korean hair pieces worn by women of high status. This photography exhibition explores some of her more elaborate head pieces.

 

Narciso Rodriguez: An Exercise in Minimalism

October 9, 2016 – January 8, 2017
The Frost Art Museum will present the first, solo museum exhibition of fashion designer, Narciso Rodriguez. The debut couture exhibition, Narciso Rodriguez: An Exercise in Minimalism will present designs created under Rodriguez’s label.

 

Pierce, Mark, Morph

October 22, 2016 – February 12, 2017
Pierce, Mark, Morph will explore the historical and artistic background of body modification. Pre-Columbian sculptures with piercings, markings, and cranial modification will be juxtaposed with contemporary artists who are exploring the body as canvas.

 

Drawing Line into Form:
Works on Paper by Sculptors from the Collection of BNY Mellon

October 22, 2016 – January 15, 2017
Including nearly 60 works from the BNY Mellon Collection, the exhibition includes some of the contemporary art world’s most recognizable figures, including Anish Kapoor, Sol Lewitt, Maya Lin, and Kiki Smith, amongst others.

 


Steven & Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture: Laurie Anderson
Sunday, November 6 from 3-5 p.m.
Laurie Anderson has astonished audiences for decades. Spanning music, film, performance, and the visual arts, Anderson’s work confronts politics, culture, and humanity. Join Anderson for a lecture as she discusses her career and work. Since 1981, the Steven & Dorothea Green Critics’ Lecture Series has brought over 130 renowned artists, critics, curators and other art world luminaries to our South Florida community.

Join us for Breakfast in the Park, an official Art Basel Miami Beach event. Every year, we welcome guests to enjoy a complimentary breakfast, lecture by a noted sculptor, and guided tours of our Sculpture Park and exhibitions. This year, we are pleased to present Judy Pfaff as our guest speaker. A pioneer of installation art, Judy Pfaff’s vibrant sculptures and sprawling installations carefully piece together plastics, fiberglass, steel, and a variety of materials to create dynamic environments.
