De Jonckheere at FLASHBACK Turin

De Jonckheere is participating in FLASHBACK in Turin, Italy, the innovative fair bringing together ancient and modern art, in parallel with the contemporary art fair Artissima from 3 to 6 November 2016!

The gallery’s booth will feature artworks by Flemish masters including a winter landscape by Adam Van Breen, similar to the panels owned by the prestigious collections of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Louvre Museum in Paris.

A 17th century pictorial genre in its own right, the ‘winter landscape’ will be a major theme found at De Jonckheere’s booth with artworks by Abel Grimmel and Gijsbrecht Leytens.

De Jonckheere will also show an elegant portrait by Corneille de Lyon, a still-life painting by Jan Van Kessel, and masterpieces by Pieter Brueghel the Younger, Herri Met de Bles and the Master with the Parrot, an anonymous painter of figures and religious compositions of the first half of the 16th century, who was given this name by the art historian M.J. Friedländer due to the parrot often seen in several of his paintings of the Madonna, where the Child is playing with the bird.

Founded in 1976 in Brussels, De Jonckheere is a gallery that specializes in the study and sale of Flemish works from the 16th to the 17th century. In 1983, the gallery opened in Paris.

Its different collections are presented to the most demanding of art lovers. Notably, these have included their attendance at prominent antique art fairs such as the Biennale des Antiquaires of Paris since 1978 as well as TEFAF Maastricht and New York.

De Jonckheere opened a new space in the heart of a historic neighborhood in Geneva at 7 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville in April 2011. From this point, the location has been at the center of the gallery’s activity.

The striking scenographies of the gallery’s booths, at the same time antique and modern, mark out the two facets of the De Jonckheere’s competency.
