Qwalala by Pae White

A monumental new glass sculpture created by the American artist Pae White to coincide with the 57th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, Qwalala will occupy the entire area opposite LE STANZE DEL VETRO. It will consist of a stunning curving wall made of thousands of unique, solid glass-bricks hand-cast by Poesia Glass Studio in Italy's Veneto region.

Following Hiroshi Sugimoto’s Glass Tea House Mondrian, Qwalala is the second in a series of outdoor commissions by LE STANZE DEL VETRO on San Giorgio Island in Venice. Such commissions give the opportunity to an artist of international dimension to engage with glass on a large-scale basis at the frontiers between sculpture and architecture.
