The debt of René Francisco

Deuda (Debt) will be the next personal exhibition of the plastic artist René Francisco Rodríguez, National Prize for Plastic Arts, which will open on November 9 at the La Acacia gallery just at seven in the evening.

According to the CNAP specialist, Margarita Sánchez, "Deuda is a personal exhibition of exception. It is not intended to expose an area of the artist's recent production, or a new thematic line, or commissioned works; it is not a retrospective either. It is an exhibition of fragments of different moments of his artistic career that he wants to bring to light ".

In an exclusive interview for Arte por Excelencias, the artist pointed out that there are many debts he has with himself, among them works he has done with a lot of love and without knowing how, or why, he has let them rest in his studio. "I like the art of ideas. That's where my work begins, in the idea, then there is the precision of choosing the material, although, sometimes vice versa”, he said.

He also commented on the exhibitions he has just made, among them stand out his participation in the Guatemalan Biennial, an exhibition in Boston, the United States and the recently concluded art fair, ArtBo in Bogotá.

René Francisco Rodríguez is a Holguin artist. He is a member of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba and a professor at the University of the Arts. For his artistic career he was awarded the National Prize for Plastic Arts 2010.
