Nancy Gifford and Kathy Kissik's works are united in one exhibition by their inventive use of mixed media in their unflinching look at the current world around them.
Each embody a keen aesthetic tempered by an industrial edge. Gifford displays a raucous retrospective spanning decades from her myriad of series tied together by a narrative thread of thoughtful observations of the planet and its inhabitants both humorous and tragic. Kissik hones in on one watery subject from her South Beach studio in her perilous King Tide Series.
The irony in the title, "At a Loss for Words", in Gifford's often text speckled oeuvre is that both artists are indeed running out of words to describe a world seemingly running out the clock on itself.
