Something Sacred is an open-air exhibition around the city of Mons (Belgium) showcasing almost 20 monumental works by the internationally renowned Catalan sculptor and engraver Jaume Plensa (b. 1955 Spain).
Present on five continents, Jaume Plensa's iconic sculptures often engage with urban spaces to leave a deep impression on viewers. In Mons, his narrative trail will be articulated in-between two key and symbolic locations, a civic and a religious one, the Grand-Place and the Saint Waldrude Collegiate Church, recalling how these two powers have always managed to coexist in Mons.
Three seven-metre-high faces will be installed on the Grand-Place while gigantic works of silence The Invisibles will occupy the nave of the collegiate church. Besides these two poles, this exhibition will also inhabit a disused chapel (the Saint-Georges Room), a garden (Le Jardin du Mayeur) and a highly symbolic composition linking Humankind to Nature will be presented in front of the Musée du Doudou.
