From October 1 – 4, 2015, ARTBO Launches Bogota's Art Month

With 84 galleries from all over the world participating in its Main section, 15 artist projects, 33 young promising Colombian artists, 4 artist-run spaces, works that embrace books and magazines as an artistic practice, interactive workshops for public of all ages and, the fair’s new section, SITE, ARTBO opens from October 1 – 4 to offer a unique, refreshing and bold art fair to collectors, art lovers and the general audience alike. For the 2015 edition, ARTBO will generate new proposals that focus upon transformative and experimental processes through new sections, programs, mediums and formats that give the fair an artistic program without comparison, making it the art event of greatest impact in Colombia as well a cutting-edge fair in the international arena. As in years prior, ARTBO will be the central feature and opening act of “Art Month” in Bogota, which consists of various activities held by galleries, museums, exhibition spaces and a great influx of cultural activity across the city.

As a program of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, ARTBO has established itself as the best platform for the dissemination and internationalization of galleries, artists, curators and institutions in Colombia. It has been fundamental for the recognition of Colombia`s vibrant contemporary art scene. Recognized as one of the most important art fairs in Latin America, the unique model of ARTBO with a vast program of commercial and non-commercial sections and a focus in diversity and quality has made the fair an international event with one of the most refreshing and innovative perspectives within the global circuit.

The curatorial team of ARTBO 2015 is composed of internationally renowned curators, such as José Roca at Foro (Forum) and Ana María Lozano at Referentes (References), as well as a new generation of curators, such as Catalina Lozano and Manuela Moscoso in Proyectos (Projects), and Mariangela Méndez in Artecámara. The exhibits from the different sections will be joined by the big novelty of this year, SITIO: a section created to offer participating galleries the possibility to propose artworks, projects or actions that transcend the galleries’ stand area. The program encourages the production of ambitious and experimental proposals for and within ARTBO, which will allow for a more interactive relationship with the audience, activating the different spaces of the fair. It will include performances, sound installations, interdisciplinary works, video installations and happenings, amongst others.
