Museum of Dominican Modern Art announces program for February

Ministry of Culture, through the Museum of Modern Art, announces the implementation of a comprehensive program for February including courses of photography, landscape (oil painting), artistic avant-garde, and third dimension, in addition to the opening of the contemporary sculpture exhibition.

 

A course titled "Paisaje al oleo" will be taught by Brenda Pérez at the Patio Español of the Museum of Modern Art, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon (local time) as of February 3, and a course called " Vanguardia Artística del Siglo XX " will be also taught by Dr. Laura Gil at the screening room from 6:00 to 8:00 pm (local time). Both courses will be given for four months.

 

For Saturday, February 7, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. is scheduled the course “Photography Basic Level” by artist and Professor María del Carmen Silva, who leads us to this wonderful world, in a practice manner. The programming continues with the course "Photography II” by Yael Duval from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

 

 

The opening ceremony of the contemporary sculpture exhibition titled "Conexion" by artists Jeffrey Mongrain and Nicholas Kripal will be carried out on Tuesday 10, at 7:00pm. The exhibition is curated by Samantha Sánchez and Ezequiel Taveras.

 

Within the didactic framework of the exhibition, will be held the “Taller Infantil” on Friday 13, from 9:30 am to 12:30 noon, a workshop dedicated to boys and girls from 9 to 11 years old, with the theme Tile Cerámico, as tribute and continuity of the Fifth World Triennial, which continuous opened to the public on the first floor of the Museum of Modern Art.

 

It will also taught the “Panel Teórico” (Theoretical Panel)  by Jeffrey Mongrain, Nicholas Kripal and Amable López Meléndez, on Wednesday 18 at 7:00 pm, in which the artists will present their points of view about sculpture, its influences and different precursors.

The Museum of Modern Art of the Dominican Republic is opened to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is located on the Pedro Henríquez Ureña Avenue at the Square of Culture Juan Pablo Duarte, in Santo Domingo.
