Leo Messi and the Cirque du Soleil

The new Cirque du Soleil show was recently presented in Barcelona, which will be based on the figure of Argentine footballer Leo Messi, whose title is Messi 10 by Cirque du Soleil. This is the first time that Cirque du Soleil has started a show outside of their country, since it usually starts in Canada. In Spain you can only see it in Barcelona where it will be for just over a month -32 functions- and then it will travel around the world, including several Latin American countries. The location will be in the Parc del Forum and will be released on October 10.

Cirque du soleil started its activities in 1984 when it only had 20 artists. Currently the headquarters is located in the Canadian city of Montreal where 4,000 people work, including 1,300 artists from 50 countries. In addition, in the same year different shows are produced at the same time, only in Las Vegas there are six and another eleven that are touring the world. Its neede to keep in mind that its productions have been enjoyed so far by 180 million viewers from 450 cities in 60 countries.

It is not the first time that a show focused on a specific character has been created, since previously the Beatles and Michel Jackson had been honored. For a long time, the shows have a common thread that, this time, is Lionel Messi, where the story of a character whose sporting values are as important as humans is developed, so it is about a unique footballer. The format of the work fuses the circus with the world of football, explaining the story of a boy who wants to be the number one in the world, overcoming all the obstacles that are crossing his path, which allows us to observe how his success, despite the vicissitudes that are happening to him.

In total, 46 artists participate, including mountebanks, acrobats, contortionists, jugglers, gymnasts, dancers, etc. The music and the stage design, or what is the same the "mis en scène", is as important as the actors of the show itself. The show lasts 90 minutes, as if it were a football game, and as it happens in all of its shows, it develops at a very agile and lively pace, so that the spectator is always attentive to what is happening on stage. A scenario that will be different from others, as it will be inspired by a playground with a giant screen that can be raised 11 meters and where images of Messi will appear. Instead of a traditional circus tent, it will be a tent in the form of a sports pavilion to house 3,000 people occupying 12,000 square meters. Also, next to the main tent, there will be another four, smaller, with capacity for 500 people that will be used for other activities related to football in which the public can participate. The same Messi is impressed by this project, because "it is amazing and at the same time crazy that Cirque du Soleil is creating a show based on my life, my passion, my sport"
