Memorable the world premiere of "Encierro"

The 28th Festival La Huella de España, dedicated this year to the Basque Country, culminated last Sunday with a great Closing Gala at the Mella Theater in Havana. During the week every night, all the manifestations of Spanish music and dance, and in particular the traditions of the Basque-Navarre community, presented by the groups of amateur artists of the Federation of Spanish Societies of Cuba, passed through its stage.

The Festival culminated with a luxury program, with the participation of the National Ballet of Cuba, which presented the sympathetic work "Muñecos" and "Teresa y los Vascos", fragment of the ballet "Las Llamas de París." Digna Guerra and the Choir Entre Voces, the Basque singer-songwriter Tontxu Ipiña, Johanna Simón and the Kronos Group and Ivette Cepeda, who sang the Basque songs "Maitechu Mía", gave the audience emotional interpretations.

The world premiere of the dance "Encierro" by the dancers of the Irene Rodríguez Company, was the great event of the gala, with choreography by Irene Rodríguez, who also played the character of the Bull of Lydia, with Yohan García, who played in the character of Torero.

The work is inspired by the Encierros de Navarra, where 12 bulls (6 brave and 6 tame) are transported through the streets of the city, from the corrals to the Bullring, where the braves will be drawn, for the fight bullfighters in slaughter and where the shadow of death extends over the ring.

With great strength and energy, Irene Rodríguez and her cast, staged with "Encierro", one of the most memorable feats of flamenco dancing in Cuba, that shook the Mella's stage and raised the audience in a big ovation.

The XXIX edition of the Festival La Huella de España, will be dedicated to the Community of Castilla.
