In Fine Arts, the first anthological exhibition by Marta María Pérez Bravo

An unbeatable opportunity to get to know the work of the renowned visual artist Marta María Pérez Bravo (Havana, 1959) is the one offered by the anthological exhibition that with her works was recently inaugurated at the National Museum of Fine Arts.

This is the first time that this institution has given its space to a personal exhibition of those who have gained international prestige for their sensitivity and the original use they have made of photography, as a vehicle to document a plastic action.

Firmeza is the title of the exhibition that, curated by Laura Arañó Arencibia, specialist of the MNBA, brings together 57 of the photographs taken by Pérez Bravo from 1983 to date, evidencing both a formal and conceptual purification of her work, but always consistent in Regarding the autobiographical character and the approach of our magical-religious traditions.

Representative of her most recent work are the 10 videos included in the selection, only one of which had previously been shown in the country.

“Her sincere dedication, her unquestionable originality; the display of innovative talent, make this artist an inescapable reference in the Cuban and universal cultural context, ”said art critic and essayist Roberto Cobas, a specialist at the MNBA, when he pronounced the opening words of the exhibition last Friday.

For her part, the artist thanked the institution for the fact that she said "it is not an exhibition, but the exhibition", referring to its magnitude; which she considered important "above all, so that the new generations of students have a background" of her thirty years of work.

Firmeza will be open to the public in the temporary room on the second level of the Cuban Art Building until June 15.
