Cuban Golden Club releases third album ‘Maestros del Sabor’

Unicornio label of Cuba’s record and musical editions company Producciones Abdala has just released the album ‘Maestros del Sabor’, by Carlos Sanabia and The Cuban Golden Club (El Club de los Soneros Dorados), featuring Puerto Rican legend Bobby Cruz –a key figure contributing to the boom of salsa music in the 1960s and 70s.

The presentation took place at a press conference Tuesday in Havana.

Through a video message from Puerto Rico, Bobby, 83, an ex-member of Fania All-Stars, thanked Carlos Sanabia and all the participating Cuban musicians and congratulated them for this project, saying ‘we all contributed our talent and our love.’

'Maestros del Sabor’ is the third album by the Cuban Golden Club, an ensemble created little over three years ago. The two-volume album includes 20 tracks, 15 of them written by Sanabia himself.

In the first volume, Bobby sings several tracks as duet with renowned Cuban musicians, members of the Cuban Golden Club, among them Haila Mompié, Alexander Abreu, Yumurí, Mayito Rivera, Jesús Salas “El Zunzún de la Salsa”, Tiburón Morales and Pedrito Calvo.

Invited guests include violinist Alfredo de la Fe and singer-songwriters Will Campa and Mandy Cantero.
