Expo "Joan Miro: The Essence of Past and Present Things"

From his academic training, his first Fauvist landscapes and still-lifes to the influence of primitivism, Roman art or even Japanese calligraphy: the exhibition "Joan Miro: The Essence of Past and Present Things” spans the entire career of the Catalan artist.

The deceptive innocence of his childlike style conceals a process of meticulous research. Composed of symbols and metaphors, Miró imbues his canvases with a "near-magic", buzzing with energy.

About a hundred original works are presented (paintings, gouaches, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, personal items, etc.). They originate from prestigious international collections, public and private, including the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró (Palma de Majorca), the Fundació Joan Miró(Barcelona), the Musée national Picasso-Paris, or the Maeght Foundation.

The exhibition trail is interspersed with immersive, interactive activities, to give visitors a better understanding of how Miró viewed his creative process.

This exhibition comes courtesy of the support of the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) and the Region of Wallonia.
