Madragoa is delighted to return to ARCO Lisboa between May 29th - June 1st!
Find us in booth E05 with a joint collaboration with DOCUMENT (Chicago/Lisbon), where we will present a dialogue between six women artists. Sara Chang Yan (1982, Lisbon), Steffani Jemison (1981, New York) and Frida Baranek (1961, Rio de Janeiro) are the ones Madragoa is adding to the equation, focusing on the relation between movement and abstraction.
Across these works, movement takes different shapes: mechanical and optical, minimal and literal, flowing and fractured. Some pieces embody movement in their structure; others rely on the motion of the observer to come alive; all of them result in abstracted images that reinforce the dynamic nature of the piece.
On the cover: Frida Baranek, Displacement X, 2025, wood and plexiglass, 114 x 90 x 30 cm, unique
