Swab presents General Program and MyFAF

Swab presents a new General Program in response to the current dynamics of contemporary art. What before were differentiated spaces in the fair; General, Emerging, Seed, now are articulated in a single integrated program. This reconfiguration responds to a broader change: the boundaries between galleries and independent initiatives are increasingly diffuse, and practices that before were considered peripheral are today occupying a central place.

Spaces managed by artists and hybrid initiatives continue operating on the margins of the market, but they are setting the rhythm of the discourse, taking risks and proposing new models of sustainability. In turn, emerging and established galleries are increasingly exercising a public function, becoming spaces of experimentation, encounter and dissemination around contemporary artistic practice.

In this new format, all participants will share a common space, with stands adaptable to different formats and needs, reflecting the art market that we want to contribute to building: a more plural market, where different scales and modes of operating coexist, and where independent initiatives maintain a direct interlocution with the institutional circuit.

MyFAF Program, space of the Swab Barcelona Foundation, for new galleries.

An essential part of the idiosyncrasy of the fair, MyFAF is the section that brings together and promotes galleries that have less than two years of trajectory and exhibit for the first time in an international fair. With the support of the Swab Barcelona Foundation, in each edition three spaces are awarded scholarships, selected by the selection committee through an open call process.

The central objective of the Swab Foundation, when launching these scholarships, is to discover and promote new talents, facilitating the entry of innovative projects into the circuit of international art fairs. This initiative reinforces Swab’s mission of serving as a crucible of new ideas and trends while at the same time underlining its role as a launching platform for emerging artistic voices.

By becoming a Swab Friend you receive a double ticket with a guided tour of the foundation’s programs and exclusive access to the special events of the fair, among many other advantages.

In 2025 the Swab Barcelona Foundation promotes the MyFAF program and the public programming of Polar and Tropic, with a video program between Nordic and Southeast Asian collectives, a shared editorial project, and a radio and listening space.

The Swab Barcelona Foundation invites individuals and entities to be part of the Swab Friends program, an initiative dedicated to expanding the scope of its projects. Each contribution directly contributes to the financing of proposals that promote the cultural and community value of contemporary art, fostering its integration as a common good and accessible for collective development.
