During Miami Art Week, La Cometa participated in two significant events that reflect the gallery’s commitment to advancing Latin American artistic research: a focused presentation of Luis Fernando Roldán’s recent work and a project by Camilo Restrepo at Untitled Art 2025.
Luis Fernando Roldán at La Cometa Miami
After a period of sustained work between France and Milwaukee, Luis Fernando Roldán (Bogotá, 1955) presented at La Cometa Miami a selection of works that mark a key moment in his recent production. Created during years of concentrated and quiet research, these pieces signal a more introspective and experimental phase in his painting.
The works deepen the artist’s ongoing inquiry into optical grays—colors that blend in the viewer’s perception, generating surfaces that vibrate with subtle intensity. Built through minimal variations and controlled gestures, these paintings reveal how color can structure perceptual and emotional atmospheres. The exhibition offered direct insight into the core of Roldán’s pictorial process.
Venue: La Cometa Miami — 1015 NW 23rd Street, Unit 3, Miami FL 33127
Camilo Restrepo at Untitled Art 2025
At Untitled Art, La Cometa presented Cocaine Hippos Sweat Blood, a project by Camilo Restrepo that draws on one of the most singular episodes in Colombian history to explore the interplay between myth, power, and cultural distortion.
The front of the booth featured hippos transformed into symbolic figures that reveal how violence becomes self-narrating. At the back, a structure combining drawing, documentation and speculative science suggested that new meanings can emerge even from remnants. Restrepo constructs a universe where the absurd and the real intersect with analytical precision, offering a visually compelling and conceptually charged proposal.
Public days: December 3–7
Venue: Untitled Art — Miami Beach, Booth C12
Through these two presentations, La Cometa reaffirms its commitment to promoting artistic practices that expand the narrative and formal boundaries of contemporary Latin American art.
