Aargauer Kunsthaus. Klodin Erb. Curtain falls dog calls

Klodin Erb (b. 1963, Winterthur) is considered one of the most important contemporary Swiss painters. Her art defies categorization, blending human, animal, mythological, and cultural references into transformative and expressive compositions. In 2022, she was awarded the prestigious Prix Meret Oppenheim in recognition of her nearly 30-year career.

The Aargauer Kunsthaus is presenting Klodin Erb's largest institutional solo exhibition to date, offering a unique insight into the artist's sensual, profound, and humorous oeuvre — a celebration of constant transformation and of life itself. Through paintings, textiles, films, and installations, Erb pushes the boundaries of painting into a three-dimensional, conceptual practice. Her work addresses social and political themes such as gender, identity, language, and astrology, interweaving past and present in thought-provoking ways.

The exhibition traces her artistic evolution from early textile works to immersive, stage-like paintings. With a playful, non-linear layout, the show invites visitors to explore recurring motifs such as lemons, roots, emojis, and mythological figures, reflecting Erb's ongoing challenge to artistic conventions.
