By Yeneily Garcia Garcia

Saluting those who have missed during these days in which she has hardly made ??public appearances, Alicia Alonso arrived on Tuesday 28th  to the headquarters of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) to make a cancellation which will be remembered in tribute to William Shakespeare, to whom is dedicated this year the 24 edition of the International Ballet Festival of Havana.

The Prima Ballerina Assoluta and CEO of the prestigious Cuban company, paid tribute to the English Bard when using the stamp that recreates the play Shakespeare and his masks, with his choreography inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet, which will open later at night at the Karl Marx Theater.

Cuba is one of the few countries where you could do a festival like this, our culture is prodigious, said the legendary dancer, who presides the event.

The cancellation also served to celebrate the 66 years of the National Ballet this October 28th, founded mainly by Alice herself and Fernando Alonso, who will be recalled this year with a series of lectures.

Until next November 7th   the curtains will open and close at Mella Theater, the National and Karl Marx - the latter debuts as headquarters- in over 20 features, including several concert programs with companies, choreographers and guest dancers from United States, Switzerland, Peru, Japan, South Africa and the UK, up to 25 nations.
