Zeroville, the film directed James Franco, will be screened out of competition in the Official Selection and will not be able to compete for the Golden Shell, due to having been released in commercial cinemas in Russia only a few days prior to its screening at the 67th edition of the San Sebastian Festival.
The producers of Zeroville originally confirmed its submission according to the Festival regulations, establishing that feature films in the official competition must not have been released outside their country (in this case the USA). However, the film has been released in Russia a week before coming to the San Sebastian Festival, meaning that it can no longer participate as a contender for the Golden Shell.
