Curators´ Network Project at Matadero Madrid

Curators´ Network is a network of non-profitable entities, made up of commissioners and cultural promoters from Europe, which came out of the necessity of creating a space for knowledge and perspectives exchange among professionals on contemporary culture, also contributing to the promotion of young values on visual arts.

The first Curators´ Network event –organized by Hablar en Arte– is to take place on November 16- 19, 20 - 22 hours, at Nave 16, Matadero Madrid.

During these four days, the hall will be housing an exhibition of works created by twenty artists, in order to put these proposals on the map of local commissioners and other professionals of culture. Chosen creators are: Françoise Vanneraud, Cristina Garrido, Carlos Irijalba, Julio Adan, Tamara Kuselman, Daniel Jacoby, AaPFAFF (Guillermo Pfaff), Ines Garcia, Vicente Blanco, Alfredo Morte, Zoe T. Vizcaino, Alain Urrutia, Nuria Güell, Jaime de la Jara, Pedro Luis Cembranos, Alvaro Negro, Fermin Jimenez Landa, Carlos Macia, Javier Arce and Grande (Pablo Serret de Ena).

At the same time, international curators will publically showcase the essence of their work in galleries and art centers of several cities. The guests are: David Armengol (Barcelona), David Barro (Santiago de Compostela), Ruben Barroso (Seville), Erik Berg (Stockholm), Mark Briggs (Glasgow), Aron Fenyvesi (Budapest), Andres Galeano (Berlin), Tomasz Gutkowski (Krakow), Javier Hontoria (Madrid), Xenia Kalpaktsoglou (Athens), Pablo Lag (Murcia), Andrea Löbel (Vienna), Marita Muukkonen (Helsinki), Didem Ozbek (Istanbul), Delia Popa (Sibiu, Rumania), Mariana Serranova (Prague), Andre Sousa and Mauro Cerqueira (Oporto), Borbala Szalai (Budapest), Leila Topic (Zagreb) and Lucasz Trzcinski (Krakow).

Each of the members of the network will have the opportunity of inviting attendees and other art professionals to explore, in situ, the emerging creative scene of their countries. Special emphasis will be placed on the meetings that include relatively unknown artists and institutions whose work, due to its quality, should be brought in promotion and marketing international circles. Beyond the presentation of artists and curators, each edition will include a tour around the most dynamic spaces of the host city.

Meeting are to be carried out during 2012 in Prague (Czech Republic), Sibiu (Rumania), Budapest (Hungary) and Krakow (Poland); and there’s a collective exhibition scheduled for 2013.
