FERIARTE, November 19 - 27

Once again at the Fair in Madrid, Pavilion 4, the 2011 edition of FERIARTE proposes a grand tour through the history of painting: medieval, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo; neoclassic painting, romantic, Realism, Impressionism, Pointillism, Symbolism; Fauvism, Expressionism, Cubism, Surrealism, Pop art, Minimalism… All of these elements are to be admired at the Spanish capital on November 19 - 27, in conjunction with the exhibition of antiques.

Artworks of high historic and artistic value will be shown to viewers, highlighting ancient paintings –especially medieval and Renaissance styles–, and internationally acclaimed contemporary authors.

Along with the exhibition of visual arts from ancient cultures, which include mosaics, relieves and sculptures, FERIARTE presents this sort of blend of several historic milestones through the exhibitors. Thus, Bernat Gallery is to attend with important paintings such as Figura de Santa, by Ramon Destorrents, one of the most influential painters from the second half of the 14th century; while Gothsland Galeriad´Art is to showcase one artwork from the first period of Master Robredo, Jesus entre los doctores, dating back from 1480. Theotokopoulos will be displaying one of the largest exhibitions on Modern Age painting, from 15th and 16th centuries, with oil paintings created by authors such as Josse Lieferinxe, Jan Brueghel II and Peter van Avont, among others. Soraya Cartategui, on the other hand, will put on the map artworks from the 17th century such as the Bodegon con cangrejos, by Pieter Claesz, dating back from 1657. From the 19th century, Xarrie Anticuario will exhibit the painting, Cercanias de Molins de Rey, by Ramon Marti Alsina, 1872, and Dolors Junyent Galeria d´Art, La calumniada, by Antoni Fabres, 1885.

Modern Age will also have its space at FERIARTE, with artworks such as El Bidasoa, by Dario de Regoyos, presented by Loren Art. Montenegro Gallery will show up with a couple of oil paintings created by Catalan painter Hermenegildo Anglada Camarasa, during his days in Paris, which were exhibited at Picasso’s Home Museum, in Malaga. Likewise, it will showcase one of Sorolla’s oil paintings that represents La Concha beach and Puerto Chico, San Sebastian. Daniel Cardani will bring Naturaleza muerta con panera, by Maria Blanchard, c. 1930, and from the second half of the century, a painting created in 1959 by Jose Guerrero, El filo de la oscuridad, which perfectly shows the development of his painting within the abstract expressionism common in artists from the New York School. Antoni Tapies couldn’t be missing, with his Blanco sobre Negro, 1991 (Marita Segovia Gallery), and other works presented by Mayora Galeria d´Art and Principal Art. Likewise, artworks created by Pablo Picasso, Joan Miro, Juan Muñoz, Antonio Lopez, Manolo Millares, Salvador Dali, Jaume Plensa, Eduardo Chillida and Antonio Saura will be exhibited.
