Tonel Exhibits in Havana

A solo show by Cuban artist, curator and art critic Antonio Eligio Fernandez, Tonel (Havana, 1958) is going to be inaugurated on Thursday December 20 at Factoria Habana.

El Viaje (Paredes que hablan),commissioned by Concha Fontenla and Tonel himself, includes drawings and installations. The exhibition is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to appreciate a group of artworks created by this representative of the 1980s generation, whose pieces have been showcased in the country within the framework of collective projects.

Tonel, who participated in the most significant exhibitions of those days (such as Kuba OK, Dusseldorf), graduated in Art History at Havana’s University. His work revisits the codes of illustration, caricature and comic to generate critic comments on Cuban and international reality, by using installations as a mean to spatially build his ideas.

El Viaje will be displayed at Factoria Habana through March 2013.
