Canala & Pulido

A showcase that gathers two of the key poetics to Chilean visual production of the last decade: Rodrigo Canala and Gerardo Pulido, will come to an end on Sunday March 3.

Emblemas opened this exhibition space’s 2013 season and suggests connections between discourses and strategies. The artists are members of Taller BLOC, a project for visual arts creation, education and spreading, founded in 2009 by Catalina Bauer, Rodrigo Galecio and Tomas Rivas, which was set as a shared place, without any architectural division to separate the daily work done by its members. The display boosts and organizes a reciprocal influence through nine pieces: three of which have been created by these artist, two are interventions in the work of another artist and there is one sculpture that was jointly created.

Canala has recently worked in the sphere of architectural decoration and some kind of show with precarious materials; while Pulido has explored the universe of textures. Rodrigo Canala (1972) was a member in 2010 and 2011 of the Gasworks International Residency Programme, and in 2007 was nominated to the Altazor Award of National Arts (Chile, 2007). His work is represented in Chile by Patricia Ready Gallery. Gerardo Pulido (1975) represented his country in the First Arcos Dorados Contest on Latin American Painting, and presently works as an art professor at Diego Portales University and Chile’s Catholic y Pontifical University.
