Gas Natural Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art Announces 2014 Picasso Workshop

Gas Natural Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC is the Spanish acronym) in an effort to foster and spread the work of contemporary artists, from its vocation and commitment to encourage artistic expressions, announces the 20th edition of Picasso Workshop.

Emotional Space. A workshop that tries to motivate, from the knowledge of architecture and its history, a personal approach based on the sensibility, analysis and experience on photographic representation. Throughout five sessions we will be able to create, from that subjectivity, new ways of space-temporal narration out of one image. In these sessions the author will conduct a general review on his work and other photographers’ who work in the architecture world, a technical approach to architecture photography and field work, as well as comments on students’ works.

Aitor Ortiz (Bilbao, 1971). Since 1995 he has been working on architecture photography both as a job and personal work. He has photographically documented the construction process of Guggenheim Bilbao and works of different architects. Based on uncertain places in buildings and structures, he takes pictures of architectural spaces and digitally manipulates and modifies them, where aspects of perspective, repetition, focus or alteration of elements feature visual instability. He has individually exhibited his work at Gas Natural Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), A Coruña; Canal de Isabel II Hall, Madrid; Nusser&Baumgart Gallery, Munich; The Swedish Museum of Photography, Stockholm; Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao; ARTIUM, Vitoria; Max Estrella, Madrid; Clairefontaine, Luxemburg; Sebastián Fath Contemporary, Manheim; and Rekalde Hall, Bilbao, among others. His work can be found in such collections as the ones exhibited at MNCARS, Patio Herreriano Museum, ARTIUM, Basque Center-Museum of Contemporary Art, "La Caixa" Foundation, IVAM, and Gas Natural Fenosa Museum of Contemporary Art (MAC), among others.
