Ignacio Llamas: Sheltering a feeling of emptiness

Through photography, sculpture and installation is the proposal of the most recent work by Ignacio Llamas. Theses works were created in the last five years and they belong to four different series: Cercar al silencio (2009-2014), Incertidumbres (2010-2014), Intemperies (2012-2014) and Refugios del Misterio (2008-2009).

Llamas created his metaphors through images of physical places. They are architectural or landscape constructions through, in which he refers to the inside of the human being. While going into these images in more depth we found clean spaces, in which some kind of a transforming light prevails, and they are only changed by some everyday items containing some strength symbolic such as bags, ladders, chairs, doors or trees. This way, he is able to create some kind of silent universe that seems to speak to the heart of the viewers.

The works, both in its volumetric as photographic side suggest the visitors to silence their sounds, to go into these symbolic spaces in more depth and begin a journey toward the inside. It is about changing their outside look into inside looks, looking for the deepest of the human being. By making this journey you can feel some light emerging from inside along with the shadows and darkness we use to carry out with us.

Limits, anguish, trauma, pain and the possibility of conceiving them as elements that can change us as persons, they became the core of this artistic proposal.

Light, along with the space is the main element of these works. This light makes us to think of more than one reading. From one side, the viewers can perceive it as a reflection of the inside. And, on the other hand, they can perceive it as a transformer element of the painful realities.

The key to go through this path is the emptiness. It is loneliness while contemplating the artist’s work and emptiness of oneself.

Solitude, look inside and transformed pain are the proposals given for undertaken a path in search of knowledge.
