Leo Brouwer and Pablo Milanés nominated to the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame

Cuban musician Leo Brouwer is today among the nominees that will integrate this year the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame (LSHOF), with other legends in music.

 

The author of  La Espiral Eterna and Canción de Gesta is aspiring to this recognition in the Composers category with Brazilian Erasmo Carlos (É Proibido Fumar), Chilean Alberto Plaza (Voy a cambiar el mundo), and Colombian Héctor Ochoa (El camino de la vida), among others.

 

Other candidates are Cuban Pablo Milanés, Panamanian Rubén Blades, Mexican Juan Gabriel, Brazilian Roberto Carlos, and Spanish Camilo Sesto, among others, as informed recently the US specialized magazine Billboard. Also opting for the award are the Mexican Joan Sebastian, Diego Torres (Argentina), Caetano Veloso (Brazil), Ednita Nazario (Puerto Rico), Álvaro Torres (El Salvador), Myriam Hernández (Chile), and Venezuelan Franco de Vita.

 

Founded in 2012 by composers and producers Desmond Child and Rudy Pérez, the LSHOF honors the most relevant composers in the international context and their music. According to the Prize Organizers, until March 15 at midnight, the public could vote for their favorite composers through the event´s web page, (www.latinsonghall.com). The winners will be announced on April 27 in a ceremony on October 15, 2015 at the Jackie Gleason Theatre in Miami Beach.

 

Among those recognized in previous editions were the Spanish Alejandro Sanz, Julio Iglesias and Rafael Pérez Botija, Puerto Rican José Feliciano and the Mexicans Armando Manzanero and Agustín Lara. Argentinean Carlos Gardel, Antonio Carlos Jobim (Brazil), Violeta Parra (Chile) and Ernesto Lecuona (Cuba) have also been recognized, among some others.
