International Architecture Biennial of Buenos Aires to celebrate 30 years

The 15th edition of the International Architecture Biennial of Buenos Aires (BA15) will be carried out from September 5 to 27, 2015 and will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Architect Carlos Sallaberry who is BienalBA15 director and organizer along with Pichon Rivière and Diaz Bobillo -PR&DB consultants- released news about this emblematic event.

 

About 20 renowned lecturers such as the owners of the BIG studio, German Kai Uwe Bergman and the COOP HIMMELB(L)AU studio Austrian Wolf Prix, as well as Dane  Jan Gehl y César Pelli. Over 50 professionals with international projection will attend a conferences week from September 8 to 11.

 

The International Architecture Biennal of Buenos Aires is considered within the most important trilogy of Biennials in the last decades along with that of Venecia and San Pablo and was founded by Jorge Glusberg.

 

The BienalBA15 edition to be held from September 5 to 27, 2015 will provide crutial national and international exhibitions at the rooms of the Recoleta Cultural Center and also will occupy other important cultural spaces in the city such as el Distrito de las Artes, Metropolitan Design Center (CMD, after its initials in Spanish) -, the City Seat of Government in Parque Patricios and museums like MAMBA, PROA, MALBA, FORTABAT and MARQ.

 

Director of the Bienal15 Comittee Carlos Sallaberry along with a team made up Roberto Converti, Carlos L. Dibar, Juan Carlos Fervenza, Miguel Jurado, Daniel Muñiz, Enrique Pichon Rivière, Tomás Seeber and Matías Glusberg makes a tour through the prestigious international event and released news for the Bienal15. "This year, we celebrate 15 editions, in an interrupted manner, and 30 years of many and strong actions for cultural promotion. The BiennalBA15 chose Bueos Aires as the venue for the international debate on architecture and made the quality of the Argentinian production had a place in the world through the widespread in the media and the attendance of

visitors with great prestige."

 

"For this 30th anniversary, our purpose, more than ever, is to achieve a Biennal for all the people, both Argentinians and tourists, with particular emphasis on young professionals and students. So, the city will be opened to welcome the Biennial beyond the Biennial getting it closer to the habitants and visitors of the city through the public transportation, architecture system and different activities such as the cinema and a Latin American comprehensive workshop with the architecture students from the University of Moron plus other faculties.

 

For this edition, we propose Mes de la Arquitectura (The Architecture Month) in Buenos Aires and part of it, a debate on what is going on now and the future of architecture and urbanism around the world will take place from September  8 to11.

 

We will have the participation of important professionals from Latin America such as the Costa Rican Ronaldo Barahona-Sotela, Chilean Alex Brahm, Martin del Solar - Talca Group and Germán Del Sol and Mexican Fernando Romero -FR-EE/ / Fernando Romero Enterprise-. The urbanism will have the a particular space with conferences by professionals like that of Suiss Michael Jakob. Also, they will provide an important exhibition and a round table about cities and Olympic villages within the designation of Buenos Aires as a venue of the Youth Olympic Games for 2018 in which I will have the pleasure to be the Infrastructure director.

 

Also a round table titled "An Urban Future of the Water" will take place with the coordination of Rinio Bruttomesso. The invitation to graphic designer Argentinian Ronald Shakespear as a conference man is related to the city of Buenos Aires since his studio has worked to create a system for the Argentinian signing for decades". Sallaberry concluded:

 

"This year, we will give the Oscar Niemeyer Prize for the Latin American architecture, the most significant action that will develop the network of architecture Biennials in Latin America, Red BAAL."
