Wall drawings by Sol LeWitt's in the Botín Foundation

The Botín Foundation of Santander hosts the exhibition Sol LeWitt. 17 Wall Drawings. 1970-2015. The most important exhibition in Spain exclusively dedicated to the wall drawings of the artist. A selection of 17 drawings murals, most of them never exhibited in Spain, held in cooperation with the Yale University Art Gallery and The Estate of Sol LeWitt.

Curated by John Hogan, Director of Facilities and archivist of Wall Drawings from the Yale University Art Gallery and artist of Sol LeWitt from 1982; and Benjamin Weil, artistic director of the Center Botin exhibition will offer visitors a unique perspective of formal and conceptual evolution of mural drawing in the artist's career.

From the selection of seventeen wall drawings in the exhibition, between 1970 and 2015, sixteen are unpublished in Spain -the seventeenth opened in Madrid in 1989, and most of them have not been exhibited again after their first implementation over twenty years. Moreover, Wall Drawing 7A will be held for the first time in the exhibition Hall of Botin Foundation.

Complementing the exhibit, the public can watch the Wall Drawing # 499 (Flat-topped pyramid with color ink washes superimposed - Truncated pyramid with ink washes of superimposed color, 1986, installed in the auditorium of the Fundación Botín in Santander from 1992, to be re-installed on the occasion of the exhibition.

The exhibition is complemented with a selection of art books and other documents belonging to the Lafuente File. A catalog is also publishing that gathers writings by Sol LeWitt, along with a series of writings of experts and testimonies of collaborating artists, selected by the Commissioner of the sample Benjamin Weil, travelling the evolution and the artist's career.
